The purpose of New Zealand’s aid is to develop shared prosperity and stability in the Pacific and beyond, drawing on the best of New Zealand’s knowledge and skills. We support sustainable development in developing countries to reduce poverty and contribute to a more secure, equitable and prosperous world.

The New Zealand Aid Programme delivers New Zealand’s official support for developing countries, with a particular focus on the Pacific Islands region. Our aid programme to Indonesia is New Zealand’s largest bilateral programme outside the Pacific. The programme aims to support increasing prosperity for all in this rapidly developing country, and has a particular focus on the least-developed provinces in Eastern Indonesia.

Total aid to Indonesia is made up of programme funding for activities delivered specifically in Indonesia, as well as other funding which can include New Zealand.

The New Zealand Government offers scholarships to eligible citizens of developing countries from the Pacific, Asia, Africa, Caribbean, South America and the Commonwealth. he New Zealand Aid Programme is integral to the delivery of MFAT’s strategic intentions. The purpose of New Zealand’s aid is to develop shared prosperity and stability in our region and beyond, drawing on the best of New Zealand.
